Faithbook Life Style: 3 Things You Must Do

By Donna Riner Weber

Scrapbooking your Faith does not have any real rules. But check out these three “must do” items before you start or continue on your Faithbooking journey. These 3 little points can make a big difference.

1. DO Keep in Mind that the Heart of Faithbooking is Showing God’s Presence in Your Life.

This is the major difference between “regular scrapbooking” and “Faithbooking.”  Numerous times the Bible tells us that each generation should tell the next about God’s faithfulness in their lives. For example:

Then (God) commanded our parents to teach it to their children
So the next generation would know and all the generations to come-
Know the truth and tell the stories so their children can trust in God.
Psalm 78:5-7 (The Message)

2. DO Take Photos of Everyday Moments.

We remember our camera (most of the time) for celebrations such as birthdays, graduations, and weddings. But what about those little moments which occur throughout the day? Like your little boy playing in the mud puddle or your little girl pretending she’s the teacher for her dolls. Do you take time to snap those photos? Maybe not so much- if you’re like me. Messy spaghetti faces, tents in the living room, having picnics on “Alf” trays-those are some of the everyday photos I regret not taking. Get your camera and snap some of those priceless pictures of everyday life with your little ones. Grab your camera right now-catch an everyday moment now. Do it. You’ll be glad you did!

3. DO Attend Faithbooking Classes

Check the churches in your area to see if they offer classes for Scrapbooking Your Faith. There are so many benefits in participating in these classes. You’ll learn new techniques and ways to incorporate your faith into your layouts. In addition you’ll have some girl-friend time where you can relax and have fun.

A saying that I shared with my nervous students on their first day of middle school seems appropriate to share with you now. “Strangers are friends you haven’t yet met.” You’ll discover new friends of your faith with a common hobby when you attend Faithbooking classes.

The Faithbook life style is all about showing God’s presence in your life through everyday moments. So learn as much as you can and if possible enjoy attending some of the Faithbooking Classes. You don’t need to feel guilty for spending an hour or two of “me time.” Remember you are creating this Spiritual Legacy for those you love!

One thing she mentions is taking a faithbooking class. It is important to surround yourself with like-minded individuals.  If you don’t have a local faithbooking group, there are many resources here at Faithfully Yours including the weekly ezine which is filled with ideas and inspiration.  Also there is the facebook group where we share prayers/praises, accountability and fellowship.
