Gift Card Holder

Stewardship Saturday

I’m excited about today’s stewardship project.  Not only do you use scraps to create it, but a recycled toilet paper roll!  I got the original idea from a pin on Pinterest found here.

The intent of the photo below is to show the tube (inside).

My scraps weren’t the right dimensions, so I ended up doing my own thing.

  1. Flatten toilet paper tube.
  2. Glue one end and secure with clip or something to hold while drying. I used a clipboard.
  3. Measure paper to cover tube.
  4. Adhere paper to tube.
  5. Embellish as desired.

To create insert:

  1. Cut scrap cardstock to dimensions slightly smaller than tube.
  2. Decorate as desired. I stamped and stippled.

  1. Score and fold about 1/2″ up from bottom. This holds gift card in place without having to use repositionable adhesive.
  2. Punch hold in top of card and add ribbon or fiber.

Scraps used from the Nantucket Island kit. The purple ink was brighter than paper so I toned down by stippling a blue/green ink over it.

Your assignment:

  • Save those toilet paper rolls! Create a gift card holder and have ready for that next special occasion.

Challenge:

  • What are some creative ideas for using 1/2″ strips of plain white cardstock?  Comment below with your ideas.
