Scrapbooking Cures Saturday Blues

I hear a loud sigh coming from Kori. What’s wrong, Kori? It’s just that, dad is busy, you are sick, Kimi is sick and Katlynn and Kelsey have soccer practice. There is nothing for me to do but sit on the couch! I offered several suggestions, none of which seemed to interest her.  Until… How about we do a project together?  We could scrap our day together last fall. I had the photos printed, just hadn’t gotten around to scrapbooking them yet. And this was the perfect opportunity! I love the pocket pages. It makes it so much easier. Each pocket is it’s own mini layout. Plus it is enough to keep Kori’s attention without being too much for her to lose interest in. Kori did all the inking. (around 4×6 patterned paper edges, journaling strips, embellishments) She also did some of the journaling. Look mom! On our walk, I found a moth that couldn’t fly. So I picked it up and helped it. I started with a 12×12 sheet of Tropical Circles from the Summer Soiree collection cut into 4×6. I intended for the cross image to be used in one of the pockets. But I cut it vertically, not realizing I had two vertical photos. Kori really wanted to use that cross and insisted on punching it out. She chose the tag punch and then added a “moth” punch and heart as well. I have a ton of white cardstock strips that I can’t seem to throw away. Using them for journaling strips is a great way to use them up. Journaling: I love this photo with the beautiful...

Your faith will grow while exercising your creativity and passing encouragement along to others. Here is a layout I created inspired by the Love Faith Spark. The journaling on the left is the story my daughter wrote and previously shared as part of the Renewal Faith Spark. (renewing our commitment for each other)  I wanted to scrapbook the story. I’m also participating in LOAD (layout a day) and did this for the prompt “Scrapbook your honey”.  I’m using the Snap album and inserts for quicker scrapbooking. I also used Love Snippets. (label, flag, circle) and a 3×4 Love Faith Pocket. Stop by the shop to get your Love Faith Spark Love papers and embellishments (don’t forget Birthday gifts this...

My One Word for 2013

Last year my one word was Trust.  While I do feel I grew in trust, I also feel like I fizzled out as the year progressed. So this year I have signed up for Ali’s One Word class to hold me accountable.  There are monthly prompts and check-ins along with a gallery and message board. I’m hoping these “extras” will help me and keep me motivated as the year happens. My word for the year is rejoice. It came to me during Christmas Eve service. Up to this point I hadn’t thought much about participating in the One Word challenge or what word. I wasn’t thinking about scrapbooking or anything beyond celebrating Christ’s birth, but it happened. A recent conversation between my husband and daughter about celebrating her successes and achievements along the way even though she hasn’t quite reached her goal yet.  My husband is always telling me to enjoy the journey.  So this is one area I want to work on. I’ve also included other ways to rejoice. Here is my first layout. I decided to go with the We R Memory Keepers 8 1/2 x 11 album and 9 pocket inserts.  I’m primarily using banana cross texture and various scraps from the Praise Today collection,   The middle spot is for my photo. I just need to take...
