Recycle, Simplify, Use

Recycle, Simplify, Use

Stewardship Saturday, the Way of the Steward, whatever you call it-it’s back!  <smile>  Yes, the contest is still going on. You have time to get your best stewardship tip entry in.  Learn more here. While Jesus is the only way…there are many ways to be good stewards with our scrapbooking supplies, time and money. One great way is recycling.  For today’s post, I’m actually going to recycle an old blog post from January of 2009. The layouts I already showcased as well, but today instead of focusing on the theme of the layout, I will be focusing on the stewarship aspect. Stewardship tip: Simplicity! Simply use what you already have. No altering, repurposing, etc. just use supplies you already have on hand. For this layout, I used all supplies already on hand. The black and white photo is even something I had on hand waiting to use one day. Daisy Bucket has cut off strips with information about the paper, but the reverse side is a pattern, so I used it as one of my strips. (middle one) Their paper is also double-sided so I could use both sides and have more patterns available. The chipboard alphabet was originally white that I inked. (I know I said no altering) I used several punches on hand, some I haven’t used in awhile. This second layout, I used scraps from the first layout. I believe I only used 3 sheets of paper for both layouts. (plus white and mint cardstock scraps) The top part is one sheet of patterned paper, while the bottom is a different sheet. I covered up the...

Need pumpkin embellishment ideas?

I can’t believe we didn’t get any pumpkins this year. Being homeschooled, we thought we would avoid the crowds and visit the pumpkin farm during the week during the day. This would be a great strategy if your kids are in preschool! Unfortunately, the “big kid” stuff wasn’t open. We saw some animals, went through a corn maize and got their faces painted, but decided to come back later. Only, we never made it back and never got any pumpkins to carve. We like to carve Jesus’ name or a cross or something to let the “light of Jesus” shine through. And believe me, this year we needed the light of Jesus. The girls were yelled and screamed at to go away, leave em alone. Another instance an older gentlemen was chasing kids down his driveway with a knife! No, it wasn’t plastic! Sigh… < > Anyway, if you are looking for some cute pumpkin embellishment ideas, I found some. This link appeared in my inbox and I thought I would pass along to you. Simply click the pumpkin to the left for an article on some cute embellishment ideas like the one shown....

Tuesday’s Tip: What every layout needs

Continuing with a week of wisdom from an 8 year old… What tip would you like to share? Every scrapbook layout needs a verse! Why? Because it is more meaningful. What is your favorite verse? I like John 3:16.  I also like “let your yes be yes and your no be no.” There is a story behind that, but for another day perhaps… I hope you enjoyed today’s...

Tuesday’s Tip

Tip: Don’t leave cup of water (or anything) left unattended next to a layout in progress! Actually, I’m not sure, but I think my daughter left a cup of water downstairs where I scrap. Our cat, Tinkerbell, must have gotten thirsty and tipped the cup over. Now my layout is water damaged!  🙁  I will see if I can still use it...
